French Corporations Visited EMS to Outline the Global Water Resource Management Scenario under the matching of French Trade Commission Ubifrance in Taiwan

French Trade Commission Ubifrance in Taiwan (FTCUT) led two prestigious French corporations HOUT and HYDREKA, both dedicated to water resource management, to pay a business visit to Energy Management System Co. (EMS) in Southern Taiwan Science Park on June 13, 2013.

As a comprehensive solution provider in water resource management, the intelligent flow meters and automatic meter reading system (AMR) developed by EMS have long been favored by water companies in Taiwan, and thus widely deployed around the island. Such powerful R&D strength consequently attracted the attention of HUOT and HYDREKA, precipitating this long-distance flight to Taiwan to make further investigation. With the translation assistance from Mr. Martin TZOU, Senior Trade Advisor and Ms. Ching-Fan LO, Trade Advisor in Infrastructure, Transport & Industrial Equipment Department of FTCUT, product information and national experience in water management were shared by all parties.

During the visit, the full spectrum of EMS products was also displayed to visitors, including intelligent electronic flow meters, GSM/GPRS data logger and AMR systems; Mr. Gilles Levaltier, Export Sales Manager of HUOT introduced a series of HUOT’s high precision water network adaptors; Jeffrey Jia, Greater China Territory Manager of HYDREKA offered a construction synopsis on their leak monitoring products and water network management systems, and how they were applied in Expo 2010 Shaighai China to effectively prevent pipe bursting events by detecting pipe-leaking, forming a prominent step-up in water management.

All parties also exchange their local billing experience; Gilles Levaltier remarked that compared with Taiwan, French government bills nearly ten times the water fee of ours, and is very likely to increase the rate year by year so as to remind the public of water preservation importance. He also questioned that how could Taiwan people possibly economize on water with such low charging rate. He also acknowledged the water-conserving potential of Class C intelligent electronic flow meters, saying it could play a critical role in water management and there are chances HUOT would introduce the Class C intelligent flow meters of EMS in the future. Seeing this, we can tell that water usage is indeed much more valued in foreign countries; on the other hand, the cheap rate in Taiwan has veritably injured our water management integrity.

The water shortage ordeal has been an unavoidable challenge for residents around the globe; therefore, how to achieve accurate metering, decrease pipe-leaking event and establish efficient water resource monitoring system has become heated subjects among field specialties; after the friendly communication across three countries, all participants are sincerely hoping that we can jointly realize an outstanding water network management system using the core competencies from each company.
